Just to give you an update on our operation here at Brighton City Airport. As you know we have three closure days due to ATC staff shortages this month.
The first closure day went through without incident and hopefully, those operators with urgent operation needs were not too inconvenienced.
We have successfully appointed a number of new staff and we have other candidates in the pipeline. As previously advised we are about to go into a short period of an air-ground operation as a prelude to a FISO operation for this summer and beyond.
Please be rest assured that we do not anticipate any further closure days in the future. As previously advised, our customers’ needs are always a priority and we are creating a new and flexible environment that will allow us to have a SAFE and user-friendly airport.
With the summer approaching, we have the added challenge of working in collaboration with the Environment Agency (EA) who will shortly be commencing the new flood defences alongside the River Adur. We have worked closely with the EA and the Head Landlord to ensure our operation suffers as little inconvenience as possible.
Whilst potentially very disruptive, this essential work is long overdue which, once completed will remove the possibility of the airfield flooding in the future.
We have been assured that our operations should not be impacted and we aim to ensure that the construction work does not affect the airport’s flying programme.
There is no Wildlife Festival this year (although they promise to return in 2019), so we can look to a clear run throughout the summer.

It has been a tough winter so let’s look forward to a great spring and summer.
