About the Airport
Brighton City Airport (Shoreham) is a busy aerodrome with a mix of general aviation, business and military traffic along with an annual award-winning music festival. The Airport is very busy, with around 50,000 movements per year. The site is vast and the primary focus of the business is safety, at all times. The Security role is an integral part of the business and finding the right person for the position is very important to us.
The overall aim of the role is to help maintain and secure a safe and efficient Aerodrome operation providing security, site maintenance and assisting management.
General purpose of the role
A full time position for a flexible, energetic and enthusiastic team player whose role will be to provide security duties and maintenance assistance to the various airport departments & users.
The role is diverse and you must use your own initiative adopting safe systems of work. You will work as part of a team working as the ground operations department.
The primary role will be to provide a security presence onsite throughout non-operational hours. You will also be required to operate machinery and equipment of different types e.g. a tractor and strimmer to perform grass management duties during the summer, and building maintenance in the winter as required and tasked by the maintenance supervisor.
Experience in operating mechanical equipment will be an advantage but not essential as training will be provided.
The applicant will need to be flexible and able to take instruction at short notice as the role covers multitasking in terms of the operation of the Aerodrome. Some additional hours may be required providing sickness cover for other team members and additional hours as requested by your line manager during special events such as the Wildlife festival etc.
Essential skills and experience
- Full UK driving licence
- Equipment maintenance skills (preferred)
- Time management; the ability to organise and manage multiple priorities
- Computer literate, competent with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel for record keeping
Hours or work: The normal working period will be from 18:00 to 09:00 = 15 hours per shift.
The Shift pattern reverts to 122 shifts of evening / night working on a two on, four off roster system, plus holiday cover of 15 shifts.
Contracted hours per year 2055 = 137 x 15 hour shifts per year = *40 hours per week. *some flexi time is available within the 40 hours per week.
Salary: £17,242 per annum
The job will be based at Brighton City Airport, Shoreham-by-Sea. But the applicant will be expected to work at, or travel to other locations or premises to help promote the Aerodrome as required.
